CODY LEIGH LAUX – ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Cody Laux is an associate attorney at Schein Law Group, dedicated to client-centered and trauma-informed advocacy. She is passionate about vindicating the rights of workers and advocating for the expansion of their legal protections.

Prior to joining our team, Cody Laux spent three years at Clarkson Law Firm supporting several practice areas, first as a law clerk, then as a summer associate, and upon being admitted to the bar, advancing to associate attorney. First, Cody worked within Clarkson’s Sexual Assault practice area, fighting on behalf of both adult- and child-survivors of sexual assault in various religious, correctional, institutional, and transit-related settings. Second, Cody supported the development of a new line of Labor and Employment cases, brought against multi-level marketing companies (“MLMs”) by their recruited sellers (or distributors). These cases allege that a number of MLMs intentionally misclassify their sellers as independent contractors (rather than employees) to excuse their refusal to pay minimum and overtime wages and to extend adequate labor protections like meal breaks, rest times, and others. Third, Cody supported the False Advertising practice area, originating several cases against e-commerce platforms for engaging in the illegal tactic of drip-pricing their customers.

Cody graduated from UCLA School of Law in 2024 and is a member of the David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law & Policy cohort. UCLA Law awarded Cody the Achievement Fellowship, a full tuition scholarship reserved for a small number of academically talented students. At UCLA Law, Cody specialized in Critical Race Theory, served as Articles Editor for the UCLA Journal of Gender & Law, was co-chair of the National Lawyers Guild, and participated in the Veteran’s Legal Clinic. Prior to UCLA Law, Cody attended Stanford University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, with a minor in Art Practice. While at Stanford, she received the John Shively Fowler Award for Excellence in Photography, the Chappell Lougee Scholarship, and various awards for literary excellence.

When not at her desk, Cody can be found rockhounding in the far reaches of LA County, gathering rare gems and minerals in the wild to add to the collection on her desk.
